Abstract:

Woodblock prints and other artworks pertaining to political issues such as immigration, Dreamers (DACA recipients), anti-racism, anti-colonialism and the Black Lives Matter movement. Includes a 2-part hand-painted shield (forming a single image) used in BLM demonstrations of 2020. One side of shield depicts a black woman with extended hand, from which grows a plant, a banner held by black acivists with text "Las vidas negras importan", and a cityscape of Oakland, Calif. in background; the other side is decorated with a collage of multiple copies of a print depicting a masked demonstrator, with text "Juntxs lucha". Other works feature prominent text usually combined with faces and various Mexican and indigenous design motifs.
